With more than fifteen years of experience, Dr. Leitman has expertise in joint replacement, orthopedic trauma, sports medicine and general orthopedics. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He received his medical degree from Boston University and served as an orthopedic resident at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. He also completed a sports medicine and joint replacement fellowship with Booth, Bartlozzi, Balderston Orthopaedics, serving on the medical staff of Philadelphia’s professional sports teams: Eagles, Flyers, Phantoms and Kixx. Dr. Leitman is the team doctor for several high schools. In addition he has published numerous peer reviewed articles, authored several orthopedic textbook chapters and has lectured extensively on knee and shoulder injuries.
Board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Smucker is one of a few surgeons in the region offering the anterior approach to hip replacement and hip resurfacing, a bone-saving procedure beneficial to younger patients. Born and raised in Delaware, Dr. Smucker graduated from Newark High School and earned a bachelor’s in chemistry at the University of Delaware. He completed a master’s degree in molecular biology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and his medical degree from the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. He completed his residency training at New Jersey Medical School. After three years in general orthopedic practice in Lower Delaware, Dr. Smucker returned for an additional training in hip and knee replacement surgery at Columbia University. He has previously been named one of Delaware’s Top Docs by Delaware Today.
Dr. De Muth
Dr. Brian De Muth completed his undergraduate education at Brown University and entered Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he earned his medical degree. He completed an orthopedic residency at Montefiore Medical Center, subsequently completing fellowship training in sports medicine and joint reconstruction at the Insall Scott Kelly Institute in Manhattan. During that time, Dr. De Muth served as an assistant team physician for the NY Knicks. In 1996, Dr. De Muth opened Chesapeake Sports and Orthopaedics, serving Cecil and Harford County Maryland. He opened a satellite office in West Grove in 2009. Dr. De Muth is the Director of the Cecil County Sports Medicine Association and the Physician Coordinator for the annual fall Fair Hill International and the spring Steeplechase Races. He sees patients of all ages and has specific expertise in sports medicine, joint replacement and fracture care.
