How Nemours CareConnect Works

Directly from our Emergency Room, the physicians at Jennersville Hospital can immediately call upon the specialists at Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, when needed, to assist with the care of your sick or injured infant, child or adolescent. Nemours CareConnect uses today’s virtual technology which even allows Nemours physicians to remotely examine your child.

Should hospitalization at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children be needed, you are assured of a smooth transition of care for your child. It’s comforting to know that the physicians and staff there are fully abreast of your child’s medical condition which helps to avoid any unnecessary delays. But that’s not all. A team of Nemours staff is dispatched to our Emergency Department to ensure safe transportation of your child to its Wilmington facility.

When a Nemours CareConnect Consultation is Needed

The Jennersville Hospital Emergency Department, like most community-based facilities, is staffed with a medical team that is experienced at treating the common emergencies children face. Moreover, the board-certified physicians and their support team have received extra training so they’re equipped to care for even the youngest of patients. Upon assessing your child’s medical needs, the provider caring for your child will determine if consultation with a pediatric specialist through Nemours CareConnect is needed.

When a consultation is needed, the provider will seek your permission before initiating the virtual consultation. Parents can even talk directly with the Nemours physician to add an extra level of comfort about the treatment that is recommended.
